Abstract

The Convento de la Encarnación de las Carmelitas Calzadas in Granada started its activity in the early 16th century. This place has been related to various musicians and musical institutions over the years because of the celebration of different events or the document exchange. Proof of this is the rich musical archive that has been compiling over the years. In this archive can be found works by multiple authors and of several musical structures, which highlights the carol. The musical instrument collection conserved in the convent has also been studied in detail and a catalogue of these instruments is presented here. This work makes the extensive musical heritage of the convent visible, while also relating it to the social life of the community of Carmelitas Calzadas.
